Approximately 50 members and guests of the Canyon Lake Woman’s Club attended a club Paint and Sip fundraiser held on Jan. 31 in the East Port Activities Room at East Port Park. The club’s board members provided the appetizers and wine for the evening.

Each attendee left with an “Adventures in Paradise” canvas painting that they created in class with step-by-step instructions from a professional painter. According to President Bonnie Wade, the event raised more than $1,200 to go toward the club’s philanthropy projects that include scholarships for Canyon Lake students.

The Paint and Sip kicked off the first of several pre-parties the Woman’s Club hosts leading up to its annual Fashion Show on April 26. Upcoming pre-parties include Out of Africa on Mar. 15 from 3 to 6 p.m. (women only), Pirates in Paradise on Apr. 5 from 6 to 9 p.m. (men are welcome) and Gidget Goes Hawaiian on Apr. 18 from 6 to 9 p.m. (men are welcome). Costumes are encouraged but not required. Pre-party tickets cost $10 each and include a drink, appetizers and an entry into the Fashion Show grand prize drawing for a chance to win five $500 cash prizes. The pre-party locations will be announced at a later date.

The Woman’s Club meets monthly on the third Wednesday in the Holiday Bay Room at the lodge. Vendor hour starts at 9 a.m., meeting starts at 10 a.m. and lunch is served at 12 p.m. Lunch is $14.
