Canyon Lakers Devra Emerson and Kristi Cooley of California Styles Salon & Spa were both named “Best Hair Stylist” by Inland Empire Magazine, a lifestyle magazine focused on entertainment, dining and other topics related to the Inland Empire Metropolitan Area of Southern California. The magazine was established in 1977.
This is the fifth consecutive year that Devra has received the award. Kristi is a first time recipient. The women were featured in Inland Empire Magazine’s Best of the Best 2019 edition.
Co-worker and former Canyon Lake resident Nichole Philamalee also received a “Best Hair Stylist” award. It was her third consecutive win.
Devra is a 28-year resident of Canyon Lake. She has worked as a stylist at California Styles Salon & Spa for the past 19 years. She graduated from Royal College of Beauty in Temecula in 1999 and went on to receive advanced training at the Vidal Sassoon Academy. Devra is certified in extensions and Brazilian blowouts.
“I am so fortunate to have been blessed with a talent that I love – making people beautiful,” said Devra.
The award-winning hairstylist lives in Canyon Lake with her husband, local realtor Trace Emerson, and their two children, seven-year-old Knox and five-year-old Steele.
Kristi has resided in Canyon Lake for the past eight years. She decided two years ago that she wanted a career change and enrolled at Paul Mitchell in Temecula. She received her color masters through Alfaparf and is certified in extensions and Brazilian blowouts.
“I am honored to receive this award considering I’m fairly new to this industry,” said Kristi.
Kristi lives in Canyon Lake with her fiancé, Brad Hanselman, and her 12-year-old daughter Ryleigh.
California Styles Salon & Spa opened in the Canyon Lake Towne Center 30 years ago. The salon underwent a complete remodel last summer. It is located at 31610 Railroad Canyon Rd. Business hours are Monday through Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. The salon is closed on Sundays. Yelp reviewers rewarded them 4.5 stars and rave reviews.
