Missing Persons to perform at lodge next Saturday

The POA’s 2019 concert series kicks off next Saturday, Feb. 9, when new wave 80s band Missing Persons takes the stage in the Holiday Bay Room at the lodge.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Canyon Laker Makayla Phillips will open the show at 7:30 p.m.

General Admission tickets cost $29. VIP tickets cost $54. Tickets are available at the POA office and through the POA’s website at canyonlakepoa.com. If the concert doesn’t sell out before Saturday, tickets will be available for purchase at the door.

Missing Persons rose to stardom in the early 80s and became a must-see band among the Los Angeles live music crowd. The band is known for their singles “Mental Hopscotch,” “Surrender Your Heart,” “Words” and “Walking in L.A,” to name a few.

Missing Persons is one of the great success stories of the 80s. Where many bands of that era turned out to be one-hit wonders, Missing Persons proved to be anything but that. On Oct. 2, the band celebrated the 36th anniversary of the release of their first full-length album, “Spring Session M.” The album peaked at number 17 on the Billboard 200 and was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America.

The opening act for this show will be singer Makayla Phillips. The Canyon Lake resident appeared on Season 13 of America’s Got Talent and received the Golden Buzzer from Heidi Klum, just seconds after hitting the first few notes.

Makayla made a special appearance during the Berlin concert on Sept. 15 at the lodge where she performed two songs and received a standing ovation. Terri Nunn invited her back on stage for Berlin’s encore song, a rendition of AC/DC’s “Highway to Hell.”
