Try taco bar, specialty meats at CL Market

The Canyon Lake Market has, for more than 20 years, been a close-by location for residents to grocery shop – especially when they want to drive over to the Towne Center in their golf carts. Lately, the market has even more to offer.

The recently-renovated exterior sports new black-and-white striped awnings and outdoor deli-style seating to enjoy a quick bite or just sit and enjoy the sunshine.

Inside, the Canyon Lake Market has the feel of an old-fashioned resort store. With its wood-style flooring and items such as fish tackle and live bait, ice chests, T-shirts/sweatshirts and assortment of libations, in addition to the expected milk, eggs, breads and other grocery items, customers might feel as though they are on vacation in their own backyards.

But the pride of co-owners Hani Taha and Mike Mustafa is their specialty meats. “We are trying to give our customers more healthy and fresh food choices with a bigger variety,” says Mike. “We have at least 15 different types of meats that are ready to throw on the grill.”

Resident R.J. Fox, who’s been coming to the market for more than eight years says, “I love it, and I come here often!”

The market also has a selection of meats that they’ve already barbecued, packaged and have ready to eat – just add a salad and side for a healthy and easy family meal. The Market has a large barbecue just outside the entrance that is used to cook their meats. The “delicious” odors of barbecuing meats often wafts through the air over the Towne Center, enticing shoppers into the market for dinner or lunch.

Susan and Ray Schloss, who are also residents, say they come a couple times a week just for the meats, “We love it! Their meats are really, really good!”

Added to the existing deli, there is now a taco bar. Customers can choose from three different meats and “build” their custom tacos however they like. They also can choose burritos and sides. Both deli and taco bar items can be pre-ordered by phone and picked up.

According to deli server Elizabeth Oceguera, customers really like the new setup. “We have huge lines at lunch,” she says.

Another new addition is wine tasting. With a selection of wines and locally brewed “craft” beers, customers can try new flavors and combinations at their leisure.

The Canyon Lake Market is located at 31682 Railroad Canyon Rd. They are open Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., and can be reached at 951-244-0311.
