Letters to the Editor: Lake Clarity

Editor, The Friday Flyer:

Just wanted to give my latest assessment of the water quality in the East Bay. I have now had waterfront property in the East Bay for almost 33

years and, without question, the water quality is the clearest that it has been in those 33 years.

I went down to my dock this morning to check on my pontoon boat and I was shocked as to how clear the water was! I can literally count the rocks at the bottom of the lake off of the end of my dock. The depth at that point is between 9 and 10 feet.

Whatever they have been doing to treat the lake, plus the new water that has come in this winter, has made an amazing difference in the clarity of the water. I hope that the POA or EVMWD will continue with their treatments, as it is really working well.

Dennis Pitts

Editor’s Note: The alum treatments were paid for by the Lake Elsinore and Canyon Lake Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) Task Force, which consists of cities, the County of Riverside, agriculture and dairy coalitions and other organizations in the San Jacinto River Watershed. Additional funding was secured by LESJWA through Proposition 84 funds from the California Department of Water Resources.
