9ers Sponsor Golf Clinic

The 9ers Golf Club is sponsoring a Beginner Group Golf Lesson Clinic that will kick off on January 20. The four-week clinic will run every Wednesday, 10 to 11 a.m. The cost is $100. The 9ers will offer refreshments following the final lessons. At that time, there will be a drawing for a private, hour-long lesson with Head Golf Pro Pat Kemball. Sign up in the Pro Shop.

The 9ers Golf Club is a member of the Women’s Southern California Golf Association. The group meets in the Magnolia Room at 9:30 a.m. each Thursday before heading out to play nine holes of golf. Women’s Golf

The theme or the annual Canyon Lake Women’s Valentine Golf Tournament on February 9 will be “My Funny Valentine.” This will be a four-person scramble, with both gross and net payouts, open to all Women’s Club members at a cost of $35. The deadline to sign up in the Golf Pro Shop is January 31. For more information, contact Linda Johnson or Linda Kamashian.

The Women’s Golf Club meets regularly on Tuesdays to play 18 holes of golf.  TLWGC is a member of the Women’s Southern California Golf Association, responsible for handicapping services for members. Applications are available in the Pro Shop. For more information, contact Sue Sell at 951-443-5940.

Men’s Golf

The Men’s Golf Sweetheart Tournament will be held Sunday, February 14, with an 8 a.m. shotgun start. The cost is $40 per person (green fee and cart rental not included) and the format is Four Player Tin Whistle. There will be gross and net winners for each flight and an award for Sweetheart Couple of 2016. The post-tournament lunch will be at the Country Club. Sign up by February 10 in the Pro Shop.

The Men’s Golf Club is a member of the Southern California Golf Association (SCGA) and holds regular open meetings the first Wednesday of each month in the Magnolia Room at the Country Club.

After Lunch Bunch

There was lots of rain last week, but the sun came out in time for the After Lunch Bunch to play their Friday game, a Four Man Tin Whistle. Scores were as follows:

1st: Roger Kielty, Joe Strong, Randy Bonner and (blind draw) Bob Stinson, 79

2nd: Nick Valencia, Neal Wagerle, Tom D’Amato and Pete Mortensen, 78

3rd: Jeff Roach, Tad Barclay, Dave Smedstad and Hub Watson, 77

Skins winners were Joe Strong and Jeff Roach. Next Friday, ALB will be playing Three Best Balls of the Foursome..

Sign up between 8:30 and 9:15 a.m. in the Magnolia Room, or by phone at 249-4565 or 237-6102. The weekly game is open to all Canyon Lakers with an established handicap. The entry fee is $5; there is an optional skins game for an additional $5.

Family Golf Club

The Family Golf Club is a member of the Southern California Golf Association (SCGA). It holds open meetings the third Wednesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the Magnolia Room at the Country Club.  Members play Wednesday afternoons. Applications for the Family Golf Club are available at clfamilygolf.com or contact Mary Leathley at 951-244-0114.
