Yvonne McKenzie, longtime resident of Canyon Lake, passed away June 16, 2015. She was born November 27, 1935 in Lake Andes, South Dakota.

Yvonne was a longtime member of the Canyon Lake Woman’s Club and served as president in 2002-03, and on the Philanthropy Committee for several years.

Friends say Yvonne always purchased items just for donation to charitable organizations; HOPE was one of her favorites, as well as SAFER, which gives hygiene items to families with little ability to purchase them. She also was in charge of the Woman’s Club Holiday Gift Basket for a family in need.” And she knitted mittens, leg warmers and scarfs that she sent to an Indian reservation in her home state of South Dakota. These were just a few of her philanthropic endeavors.

She also was a member of the Canyon Lake Lioness for many years as well as enjoying close friendships in the Ladies of the Lake group. In addition, she was an “Elks Lady” with the Lake Elsinore/Wildomar Lodge.

A Celebration of Life will be held for Yvonne on Monday, July 20, at 11 a.m. at the Canyon Lake Community Church chapel, followed by a luncheon reception in the church gymnasium.
