Holly Wernli, 56, of Canyon Lake, passed away peacefully with loved ones by her side on July 8, 2015.

She was born November 1, 1958 in Long Beach, California to Max and Emily Starr. She grew up in Muncie, Indiana and later relocated back to Southern California where she met and married the love of her life and husband of 36 years, Rick, and raised her family in Canyon Lake.

Holly was a great wife, daughter, mom, sister, aunt, friend, co-worker and neighbor. She truly enjoyed everything the community had to offer. As a 27-year resident, some of her favorite things were the Fireworks Show, Boat Parade and Fiesta Day.

In addition to Rick, Holly is survived by son, Spenser, and daughter, Paige; sisters, Kim Starr and Michele Uren (Randy); brother, Max Starr (Jane); and numerous nieces and nephews.

Also surviving Holly is the large, loving group of friends and neighbors who have been supporting the family through her brave battle.

Friends and family would like to thank the community for the incredible support throughout the Wernli family’s ordeal. There were many generous donations through garage sales, the Jr. Women’s Club and the Canyon Lake Car Club. All of the kind gestures and faithful prayers are deeply appreciated.

Holly fought with unmatched bravery and grace that everyone who knew her will never forget. Services will be at Canyon Lake Community Church at 10 a.m. on July 25. In lieu of flowers, Holly’s request was that donations be made to families who are suffering with cancer or Believebig.org.
