Members of the Canyon Lake Garden Club enjoyed an all-day excursion to Redlands on February 19.
One of the group’s newest members, Tammy Murphy, arranged for them to stop at the Bracken Bird Farm (brackenbird.com). Founded in 1973, Bracken Bird Farm raises, breed and sells many kinds of birds such as parrots, parakeets, cockatiels, cockatoos, finches and lovebirds. The farm has other animals as well, and is open to the public every day, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Following that stop, the Garden Club had lunch at Martha Green’s “The Eating Room,” then headed to Kimberly
This is a picturesque, 7,000-foot, French chateau-style home built in 1897. The California Historical Landmark sits on top of a hill with a view of the valley below. Its 6 1/2 acres includes gardens and an orange grove.
“This was a full day of activities for all,” says spokesperson and photographer Leann Kluck. “Those in the group who I spoke with really enjoyed this trip.”
Garden Club members are invited to meet at the Lodge for their next outing on Thursday, March 12, at 9 a.m.
They will carpool to San Marcos for a tour of Buena Creek Gardens, with lunch to follow at The Journey Room, Pechanga’s country club restaurant in Temecula.
