Spotlight on Seniors
It’s time to recognize high school se- niors who are graduating with academic or athletic honors from local private or public high schools. Parents or students are invited to send a photo and college resume information naming awards and community involvement for the annual “Spotlight on Seniors” series. Coffee with Nancy
Residents are invited to meet with Elsinore Valley Municipal Water Dis- trict Division 1 Director Nancy Horton, a Canyon Lake resident, the last Tues- day of every month, 10 to 11:30 a.m., at the Sports Stop. Her next meeting is June 28. She is available to talk about changing guidelines for water conserva- tion, questions about the district’s con- servation rebates, etc. Nancy also invites residents to bring their water bill for clarification of costs.
Bingo at the Senior Center
The Lioness Club hosts Bingo every first and third Sunday, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Senior Center. Games are open to all members of the community and are $20 for a 12-sheet set and $10 for a six- sheet set. Funds raised by bingo are con- tributed to Lions’ projects for the sight- impaired and the needy of the area.
Titan Football
The annual Summer Night Classic football game (Blue vs. White) will be held Saturday, June 25, at 7 p.m. at the
Temescal Canyon High School Stadium. See the new field and watch the game for free. The freshman team will scrim- mage at 2 p.m.; there will be an alumni flag football game at 5.

Reading Cinemas Cal Oaks in Mur- rieta is beginning to show family favor- ites for $1 every Wednesday and Thurs- day, at 10 a.m., through August 11. There are specials on concessions as well. See these films again on the big screen: June 29, 30 – Minions

Chamber Mixer
The Chamber of Commerce June Mixer will be held on Wednes- day, June 29, at 5:30 p.m., hosted by Pepe’s Mexican Restaurant and Cantina in the Canyon Lake Towne Center. To promote a business, bring a raffle gift.
The next Chamber Luncheon will be on Wednesday, July 6, at 11:30 a.m. in the City Multi-purpose Room. The guest speaker, Randolph Beasley of Legal Shield, will dis- cuss identity theft and what can be done to protect oneself. Lunch is $8, catered by Sports Stop and The Cup Above.

Swim Lessons
Swim lessons are now underway at the Lodge and offered to children of all ages and levels. Swim lessons are 30 minutes long Monday through Friday at either 10:15 a.m. or 11 a.m. One weekly session is $70, the second week is $40 and the third week is free – OR first child is $70 per week and second child is $40 per week. Families (two children or more) get one free week. Lessons are offered the following weeks:
June 27 - July 1
July 11 - July 15
July 18 - July 22
July 25 - July 29
August 1 - August 5
Swim Lesson Levels
Tot Swim: Face in the water, intro-
duction to floating
Level 1: Kicking and safety rules Level 2: Hold breath for three sec-
onds, introduction to retrieving objects and turning front to back
Level 3: Introduction to diving and retrieving objects with no support
Level 4: Elementary back stroke, standing dive, and treading water
Level 5: Breast stroke, butterfly kick, and alternate breathing
Level 6: Front crawl (100 yards), and butterfly (10 yards)
Level 7: Front crawl (200 yards), back crawl (100 yards), and rescue skills
Adult swim lessons available upon re- quest (beginners to perfecting technique). Mommy and Me Water Class – Par- ticipate in your child’s developing swim- ming abilities. This class is $35 and of- fered either Monday through Friday at 11:45 a.m. the week of June 27 through
July 1, or the week of August 1 to 5.
Water Polo
Water Polo is open to children of all ages as they are able to swim the length of the pool (25 yards). This six-week program is $45 for the first week and $40 for following weeks (buy two weeks and the third week is free, one free week per household).
Week Three Shooting is June 27 to July 1. Focus on basics of water polo taught in week one, as well as working on all types of shooting and proper form; i.e. cross-cage, strong side, wet shots and shots from set.
Week 4 Offense is July 11 to July 15. Focus on basics of water polo taught in week one, as well as working on differ- ent types of plays and positions that help make a good offensive player.
Week 5 Defense is July 18 to 22. Learn plays and positions that make a good defensive player.
Weeks 6 & 7 – July 25 to 29 and August 1 to 5 – Focus on basics of wa- ter polo taught in week one, as well as working on different types of plays and positions for both offense and defense when up/down on a 6 on 5. Class also will work on 5-meter penalty shots, in- cluding technique and how to draw a 5-meter in play.
