JUNE 24, 2016 THE FRIDAY FLYER A-3
Here are some tips for 4th of July weekend
Signups for a chance to win a table reservation at Holiday Harbor Park on July 4 will be accepted until 5 p.m. June 24 at the Member Services Office. The lottery will be held tomorrow morning, June 25, at 9 a.m. at the CLPOA Office. Members must be present to win. People who do not win a table will be able to set up easy-ups on the grassy areas after the park opens in the morning.
Launching Boats
Unregistered boats are not permitted on the lake. Marine Patrol will be veri- fying boats for current registration at all launch ramps. Unregistered boats are subject to a fine $500 Marine Patrol ci- tation. Those who need to have a safety inspection completed on their boats in order to register them should call Ma- rine Patrol to schedule an appointment before July 2, 2016.
During the fireworks show on Mon- day, July 4, boats must maintain a safe distance from Skipper’s Island. The show will not begin unless all boats are within a safe distance from the island.
Taking Responsibility
Residents are reminded the prime member is responsible for the actions of his or her family, guests, renters and les- sees, as well as for any citations. Prime members are responsible to know the Rules and Regulations and are asked to be respectful of those in authority who are trying to enforce those rules. The As- sociation and City of Canyon Lake ask that everyone cooperate with those in authority to help ensure a safe holiday. The personal safety and enjoyment of
all residents and guests is their top pri- ority, and strict enforcement of the law will be applied throughout the weekend.
Parks and Beaches
The parks and beaches hours during the summer are 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. On the 4th of July, the parks will open at 6 a.m. All picnic tables at Holiday Harbor will have been reserved through a lottery system. However, the remainder of the park is available to whoever arrives first – portable tables, chairs and canopies are fine.
Please note, that any personal items left at parks or beaches before/after park hours will be removed.
Pool Hours
On July 4, the pool will be open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. for open swim. (Water aerobics is cancelled on the 4th.) A valid POA card is required and the member must be in good standing to have access to the Pool gate.
On July 4, the Pool will close at 8 p.m. for the fireworks show and no one will be allowed in the Pool deck area.
Fireworks Show
The fireworks show is scheduled to begin at 9 p.m. Monday, July 4. It will be launched from Skipper’s Island by Pyro Spectaculars. From the Lodge patio area, Mike Shroyer of Good Time Enter- tainment will be playing music leading up to the show. Patriotic music will play in sync with the fireworks.
Although the pool deck will be closed, spectators are welcome to watch the fireworks from the beach and walk-
way around the pool, as well as other waterfront parks that have a view toward Skipper’s Island in the Main Lake.
Cars and golf carts will not be al- lowed to park on the Main Causeway or North Causeway at any time, including Longhorn (Treasure Island).
Pre-Fireworks Traffic
• Beginning at 2 p.m. on July 4th, Longhorn Dr. will be closed from Straw- berry Ln. to the Campground to all but emergency vehicles, residents of Long- horn and those staying at the Camp- ground. Guests should be prepared to show their guest passes with their host’s address. Entry to the Campground will not be permitted after 9 p.m.
• At approximately 8:30 p.m. on July 4th, Village Way, Main Causeway and Canyon Club will be closed to all ve- hicles except golf carts and emergency vehicles.
Post-Fireworks Traffic
• Golf carts and vehicles exiting Vil- lage Way will only be able to turn right onto Canyon Lake Dr. South.
• At the corner of Vacation Dr. and Canyon Lake Dr. North, golf carts and vehicles will only be able to make a left turn onto Canyon Lake Dr.
• For the first 30 minutes following the show, only pedestrians will be al- lowed to exit the Lodge area. Golf carts and vehicles are asked to stay parked during this time.
• To allow traffic to exit out of the Lodge area, only emergency vehicles will be permitted to drive into the Lodge parking lot.
Personal Fireworks
Riverside County and the City of Canyon Lake have deemed all unauthor- ized fireworks (including sparklers) il- legal, enforcing a strict zero-tolerance policy on their use and possession and making it a misdemeanor punishable by fines ranging from $500 to $1,000 and up to one year in jail. In addition, any- one who causes a fire by the use of fire- works will be financially responsible for all suppression costs.
