In Memoriam: Mary Lynn Koster

Mary Lynn Koster
December 13, 1961 – March 2, 2024

Mary and Bill Koster spent the second to the last chapter of Mary’s life in Canyon Lake. She and Bill moved to Canyon Lake in 2016 where she was known for participating in “her 10 favorite things.” Mary enjoyed paddleboarding, bicycling, tennis, pickleball, water skiing, boating, and walking…which she tried to do as many of her 10 favorite things every week.

Mary worked for the US Navy, finishing her career as the comptroller for their Weapons Center in Norco, CA.

In 2017, she and Bill moved to Treasure Island where they found a community of people who loved to share the wonderful lake life. Mary became very involved with the Canyon Lake Tennis Club and the Canyon Lake Pickleball Club, impacting both with her infectious positive attitude, athleticism, and gracious smile.

In the fall of 2021, during the pandemic, Mary was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer. She found the community of friends at Canyon Lake to be very supportive with encouragement, meals, rides to doctor appointments, and gestures of creative kindness.

In January this year, Mary’s cancer took over and caused her much pain and suffering. To finish her journey, Bill and Mary moved to Michigan where they both grew up and have family. She completed her journey on March 2, 2024, in Ludington, Michigan.

Mary is survived by her husband Bill, children Joel (Hannah), Jared (Alysha), and Sarah (Cliff), five grandchildren, her father, brother, nieces and nephews, and friends as numerous as the stars in the sky!

There will be a Celebration of Life for Mary on Saturday, April 27, at Holiday Harbor at 10:00 a.m.
