Canyon Lake Mermaids to celebrate 3rd Annual Derby Day

The Mermaids of Canyon Lake are gearing up for their 3rd Annual Derby Day celebration, set for May 4 at noon. This exclusive event, open to club members and their 21+ aged guests by reservation only, promises an afternoon of entertainment, camaraderie, and charitable giving. Attendees can look forward to a East Lake cruise featuring a catered lunch, drink options including Spirits and $20 in Mermaid Money. The day’s unique twist involves volunteer “horses” (men on kayaks) participating in races, cheered on by the women spectators from the boats. A highlight of the event includes a contest for the most fabulous hat, encouraging attendees to don their most creative and outlandish headwear, with prizes also awarded to the guest with the most Mermaid money by the event’s conclusion.

With space on the boats limited, members are urged to make their paid reservations promptly to ensure participation. Those wishing to reserve spots for themselves and up to eight guests on the same boat should act quickly. To book a full boat (eight people and a driver) is $500.
