C.L.E.A.R. Junior Lifeguard tryouts at pool next month

The C.L.E.A.R. Foundation, in partnership with California State Parks, has announced its 2024 Junior Lifeguards Try-Outs. The program is aimed at fostering aquatic safety skills among youth and will be hosting its try-outs on April 20 at 8:00 a.m. at the Canyon Lake Lodge Pool.

Interested candidates aged between 8 and 15 1/2 are encouraged to participate. Lifeguards are not required to try out, but registration is required. New junior guards are required to try out. Money will be refunded should participants not pass the try outs.

The try-outs will consist of a 100-yard swim to be completed in three minutes, followed by a two-minute tread without assistance. Those who successfully pass the try-outs will be eligible to join the Junior Lifeguard Camp, which is scheduled to run from June 17 to June 28.

In addition to the physical tests, an orientation is set to take place at 10:00 a.m. on the day of the try-outs. The orientation will provide participants and their guardians with essential information about the camp’s activities, goals, and the expectations of junior lifeguards.

For more details regarding the try-outs, camp, or other inquiries, the C.L.E.A.R. Foundation can be contacted via email at CLEARfoundationCL@gmail.com.

The Junior Lifeguards program is an opportunity for young individuals to learn valuable life-saving skills, improve their physical fitness, and enjoy the camaraderie that comes with being part of a team.
