Equestrian trainer celebrates horse’s 30th birthday

Michelle Stubbs, a Canyon Lake resident known for her dedication to the local equestrian community, celebrated a remarkable milestone: the 30th birthday of her beloved horse, Noel, at the Canyon Lake Equestrian Center.

Michelle, who has called Canyon Lake home since 2009, balances her time between family activities and her passion for equestrianism.

As a trainer and Treasurer on the Canyon Lake Equestrian Club board, Michelle plays a crucial role in maintaining the vibrancy of the equestrian culture within the community. With six horses and ponies under her care, five of which are available for lessons, Michelle provides invaluable learning opportunities to residents, aiming to foster inclusivity and community bonding.

“The equestrian center allows our community to rival with other Orange County communities,” Michelle said. “It fosters a sense of unity and pride among residents and the facility leverages BLM land for offsite riding, preserving Riverside County’s rich equestrian heritage.”

Michelle’ commitment to the equestrian community is evident through her organization of events, playdates, and mini horse shows. She also facilitates volunteer opportunities and offers scholarships to young equestrian enthusiasts.

The birthday celebration for Noel, attended by 20 Canyon Lake equestrian fans, highlighted the deep connection between humans and horses. Although retired, Noel continues to contribute to the center’s activities, offering pony rides for those 50 pounds and under and assisting with ground lessons.

“I feel so blessed to have her as part of my program,” Michelle said. “I value every day I get with such a sweet soul.”

With the equestrian center experiencing growing interest, Michelle noted there is a current waitlist for stable accommodations and encouraged interested individuals to contact the Canyon Lake POA Operations for more information. Michelle’s dedication not only enhances the offerings of the Canyon Lake Equestrian Center, but also strengthens the equestrian community, allowing residents to discover the joy and camaraderie of equestrian pursuits.
