Canyon Lake rallies support for Eric Frega’s cancer battle

The Canyon Lake community came together for a second fundraising event to support Eric Frega‘s fight against Stage IV Pancreatic Cancer. The event at the Sports Stop in the Canyon Lake Town Center witnessed a remarkable turnout of friends, family, and community members, all united in their efforts to aid Eric in his critical health battle.

The fundraiser, co-hosted by Patriotic Arms and Sports Stop, featured the sale of raffle tickets, silent auction bidding, and merchandise like hats, shirts, and stickers from Eric‘s American Cancer Fighters Foundation. The overwhelming response from the community highlighted the profound sense of solidarity and support for Eric during this challenging time. Volunteers played a crucial role in organizing and executing the event. Their efforts in gathering auction items, managing donations, and ensuring the smooth running of the day were pivotal in the fundraiser‘s success.

Eric, who is currently undergoing treatments in California, was unable to attend the event due to health precautions. His father, Jon Frega, was at the fundraiser in his stead and expressed immense gratitude to the attendees and volunteers, leading a moment of prayer and sharing his heartfelt appreciation for the community‘s support.

“This is not the norm, with so many people coming out with the love that you all have to bless my son with,” Jon said. “I know from the bottom of his heart he’s so grateful.”

The fundraisers, combined with a GoFundMe campaign, have raised close to $100,000 to assist Eric with his treatments both in California and abroad. The highest auctioned item, a Battle Axe by DeBaca Battle Axes, exemplified the community‘s generosity.

Amy, Eric‘s sister, was moved by the unique spirit of Canyon Lake, acknowledging the exceptional support and care demonstrated by the community.

“It really is so special, like nothing I’ve ever seen,” she said. “Thanks, it means so much. I still can’t believe all of this is happening.”

The event organizers extended their thanks to everyone who contributed, whether through time, financial support, or talents. The community‘s collective effort has made a significant impact, both emotionally and financially, in supporting Eric‘s fight against cancer.

For those who wish to contribute, donations can still be made to Eric Frega‘s GoFundMe campaign.
