Marvin Griswold has seen a lot in his 90 years. Twenty eight of those years have been spent in Canyon Lake, so it seemed only fitting that the milestone birthday be celebrated at the Canyon Lake Lodge with dozens of family members on Saturday.

Family members, including 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren, celebrated alongside Marv and his with Dorothy Griswold, who have been married for 68 years.

“Our granddaughter Kimberly, husband D’Angelo and 3-month-old great grandson Vin came all the way from Brussels Belgium,” Dorothy said.

Others traveling for the occasion were granddaughter Aleen Gordon from New York City, niece Emily Griswold from Washington DC, nephew Steve and Mary Beth Griswold from Pinehurst, North Carolina, nephew Bill and wife Teresa Griswold from Montgomery, Alabama, great grandson Michael Gordon from Seattle, Washington and friends from Hawaii and South Dakota.

The celebration included a plated dinner, the 10 great grandchildren singing, “It’s a Wonderful World” to their grandpa, several funny speeches and dancing.

Marv shared some of his family history and thanked his guests for coming. He then asked his wife Dorothy to dance with him for the first dance of the evening, and the guests joined them halfway through the song. The song was one of their favorites that Marv said he has sung to her for decades, “Moody’s Mood for Love.”
