Family Matters Club hosts NYE Craft Day

The Canyon Lake Family Matters Club celebrated New Year’s Eve with a special craft day and dance party, bringing together children and families for a fun and creative afternoon. The event, part of the club’s monthly craft series, featured sparkling cider, a variety of goodies, and an array of crafts for kids to enjoy.

Participants expressed appreciation for the club’s efforts in organizing activities that cater to both adults and children in the community.

Club Founder Shawna Bowen reiterated the club’s commitment to hosting monthly activities for the kids of Canyon Lake. Despite lower turnouts than expected, the joy and laughter of the children who attend make the monthly event worthwhile.

“Just seeing the kids who were here dancing and playing with the array of balloons on the floor made today worth all the effort,” Shawna said.

President Jeannie Hoonnirun shared her delight at witnessing the children’s happiness.

“Hearing the kids laugh and giggle as they tossed balloons in the air made my heart so happy,” Jeanne said. ““Being gathered with my fellow club members and the volunteers who took their time to come and spend a couple of hours helping and just visiting with us was the best way for me to end 2023. I am honored to be a part of the Family Matters Club and I’m thankful to those that continue to support us and show up to help make our events a success.”

Vice President Dawn Rankins highlighted the club’s mission.

“Family Matters is about bringing a community together, one family at a time,” she said. “It was the vision of the club founder, Shawna Bowen, to bring events like this to our wonderful community. All the behind the scenes work that goes into even small events like this take work and a team effort. Seeing the kids laughing and dancing to music and watching parents interact with their little ones, the vision of the club comes to life right before our eyes.”

The club is looking to revise the date and time for future craft days to encourage better attendance. Anyone interested in learning more about the Canyon Lake Family Matters Club and its upcoming events can visit its Facebook Group Page or website at www.familymattersclub.org.
