Car Club holds annual dance, makes donations

The Canyon Lake Car Club hosted its Christmas Dinner Dance last week at the Canyon Lake Lodge’s Holiday Bay Room. Guests were served a plated sit-down dinner after time was available for mingling and picture taking while Harpist Kylene Evans played Christmas music in the background.

The evening included free raffle giveaways, a 50/50 raffle where Todd Stover, head of membership, won $375.00. Todd, in the spirit of Christmas giving, challenged guests that if they would give an additional $5.00 each he would donate the raffle winnings back to the club.

The club donated money to three charities as part of the gathering. The recipients were Project Touch, Tunnel to Towers, and Helping Hands. These donations were just one of the many philanthropic things the car club does throughout the year.

The Car Club sponsors the Jars of Peanut Butter at many of the events they host. Many of today’s seniors are faced with paying utility bills or purchasing groceries. Peanut Butter is a nutritious food that can be given to those in need, so the club collects the jars and makes them available to these seniors.

The night continued with a dessert buffet and dancing until 10:00 p.m. with music provided by Aprile DeAnne McKinnon.

The car which will be printed on the 2024 Canyon Lake Car Club T Shirt was drawn and the winners were announced. The shirts will be sold at upcoming events and activities throughout the 2024 year.

The club’s next scheduled event is its club meeting on Thursday at the Holiday Bay Room at the Canyon Lake Lodge. It will begin with a 5:30 p.m. Social Hour, with the meeting starting at 6:30 p.m. Those wishing to become a member of the club, or attend the meetings, should contact the club. Reservations are needed.

The next club event that is open to the public is its monthly Cars & Coffee which takes place at Sierra Park from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.

“You don’t have to own a fancy or classic car to be a part of the Canyon Lake Car Club,” Club President Perry Beggs said. “You just have to be a car enthusiast and love to talk about cars.”
