Lineup announced for 2024 Concerts at the Lodge series

Tickets are now on sale for the four concerts that the Canyon Lake Property Owners association says is “arguably our strongest lineup ever” for its annual Concerts at the Lodge series.

“After a four-month review and research of over 400 national touring acts regarding availability, budget, and production requirements, we bring you the 2024 lineup,” series promoter Doug Schultz said. “It’s an eclectic line-up of four high-visibility acts.”

The concerts and their dates are: Oingo Boingo Former Members on Feb. 10, Thompson Square on April 20, Marcy Playground on Aug. 10 and Colt Ford on Nov. 2. All of the concerts will take place in the Canyon Lake Lodge’s Holiday Bay Room.

Oingo Boingo Former Members features the actual former band members of the legendary new wave group Oingo Boingo.

THOMPSON SQUARE

Five of the original ’80s and ’90s era Oingo Boingo members Johnny “Vatos” Hernandez, Sam “Sluggo” Phipps, Carl Graves, Steve Bartek and John Avila, are joined by Brendan McCreary (lead vocals), Mike Glendinning (vocals, rhythm guitar), Freddy Hernandez (bass) and Brian Swartz (trumpet) to form Oingo Boingo Former Members.

This powerhouse group has been performing and selling out venues in California since 2005, including the iconic Greek Theatre and Saratoga’s Mountain Winery.

The concert will take place Feb. 10 and tickets are available for $59 General Admission and $79 VIP.

Thompson Square is a hot American Country Music act that features the chart-topping award winning husband and wife duo of Keifer and Shawna Thompson. They made a memorable debut a decade ago with the hit song, “Are You Gonna Kiss Me or Not.”

Known for their numerous awards, chart-topping records, and international fame, Thompson Square is making a comeback to the music scene. After taking a break to focus on family, the pair has returned with fresh material under Quartz Hill Records, showcasing their evolution both personally and artistically.

Their latest songs, such as “Country In My Soul” and “Without You,” delve into the complexities of love and partnership, drawing inspiration from their own life experiences. Marcy Playground, a staple in the 90s alternative rock scene, celebrated a significant milestone in 2017, marking two decades since the release of their 1997 self-titled debut album. This album, a defining moment in their career, featured the iconic hit single “Sex and Candy,” a song that resonated with a wide audience and remains a memorable track from the era.

In honor of this anniversary, Slow Down Sounds released the album on vinyl for the first time, offering fans both new and old a fresh way to experience the band’s classic sound. The album’s enduring popularity was highlighted by its achievement of platinum status in 1997. Additionally, “Sex and Candy” notably spent a record-breaking 15 weeks at the top of the Billboard Modern Rock chart, solidifying its place in alternative rock history.

Over the years, Marcy Playground has released four more albums, each garnering a cult following and further establishing the band’s unique place in the music industry. Their dedicated fans continue to appreciate the distinctiveness of these later works.

COLT FORD

The band’s influence extended beyond album sales, with their music featuring in various films and soundtracks. They’ve also toured alongside other well-known bands, building a reputation for their engaging live performances.

The concert will take place Aug. 10 and tickets are available for $49 General Admission and $69 VIP.
