Dam Overflow

Water flows through the lowered Railroad Canyon Dam gates for about five hours as part of an Elsinore Valley Municipal Water District compliance survey Tuesday. The survey required a brief water level adjustment where residents may have noticed a level decrease as much as 12 inches on their property depending on the land contour at the water level. Residents near the dam may have noticed a heavier than normal current flowing towards the dam and an unpleasant, but temporary, odor for the first 20 minutes of the opening of the valves.
