CL equestrians shine at Inland Empire Festival

Six talented equestrians from Canyon Lake, along with their horses, made a significant impact this past weekend at the Inland Empire Hunter Jumper Association Fall Festival Horse Show. Under the guidance of their trainer Michelle Stubbs and her program, Fidelis Equine, based at the Canyon Lake Equestrian Center, these horse-and-rider teams showcased impressive skills and dedication.

Michelle, who named her program in honor of her start in equestrian sports on a Marine Corps base, reflected on the significance of competing during Veterans weekend.

“It’s a tribute to our Veterans, allowing us the freedom to chase our dreams,” she said. “My girls and these horses have worked hard throughout the year, and now it’s time for some winter relaxation.”

The Canyon Lake team’s achievements were notable. Jenna Humphrey and her horse “Tigger” clinched the Champion title in the 2’3″ Medal with a Green Rider. Taylor Schoessow and “Dylan” were named Reserve Champion in the Short Stirrup division. Olivia Santolucito and “Nugget” took home the Champion title in the Open Crossrails Hunters, while Delaney Lightman and her pony “April” triumphed in the Junior/Amateur Crossrails division.

Charlotte Moore riding “Nugget” and Lily Freesmeier on her new horse “Reggie” also delivered outstanding performances, each winning ribbons after just one day of competition.

The team is already looking forward to the 2024 season, which starts in February, with a renewed determination to achieve higher goals, Michelle said.
