Canyon Lake community shocked by flag desecration

Two U.S. flags in the Canyon Lake Town Center were set on fire over the weekend and the city is looking for help in finding the perpetrators..

“The U.S. flag is considered a sacred symbol.,” City Manager Nicole Dailey said. “It is disgraceful and undignified to desecrate flags in this manner.”

One flag was burned and left at the Veterans Memorial Park and the other was outside of the Century 21 office.

In response, the Sheriff’s Department is actively investigating the incident and seeking assistance from local businesses. They are looking for any video footage that may have captured the flag burning or any suspicious activities or individuals during that time frame.

Businesses or individuals with potential video evidence are encouraged to come forward. Anyone who believes they have footage that could aid the investigation is asked to contact local authorities, who will facilitate communication with a Sheriff’s Department representative to collect the video.

Even those without video evidence, but who might have information related to the incident, are urged to contact the Sheriff’s Department.

Any detail, no matter how small, could be crucial in identifying those responsible for this act of disrespect, Nicole said.
