Tuscany Hills turns 30, celebrates with staff reunion

Tuscany Hills Elementary School turned 30 years old this year and the existing and former school staffs put on an anniversary celebration at the school recently.

Current and former 5th grade teachers came up with the idea to bring former staff members back for a reunion. Current teacher Leigh Ann Paule and former teacher and Canyon Laker Janice Myre invited current and former staff members to the gathering and over 40 responded by attending.

“Sometimes you have the honor of working with a group of people who become like family,” Janice said. “We wanted to celebrate our school family again. I cried 100 happy tears as each friend walked into the room.”

Many of those who attended the Oct. 1 event were part of the original faculty when the school opened in 1993. Some traveled to the party from out of state including former school nurse Cindy Ungeheier who made the trek from Missouri in her RV.

Friends shared fun stories and took a tour of the school. A slideshow montage created by Janice highlighted years of memorable activities and included a salute to former principal Colleen, photos remembering staff members and their families, and photos of school volunteers who have passed away.

“Everyone agreed that it was a spectacular event,” Janice said. “Plans for future get-togethers are a sure thing.”

Current Tuscany Hills Student Council students set up tables and created posters welcoming back “Early Coyotes” (the school mascot) and “Pack Leader” in reference to Principal Colleen.
