Canyon Lake Memorial Ski Tournament

The Canyon Lake Water Ski Club pulled 157 rides across Slalom, Trick, and Jump during the annual Canyon Lake Memorial Tournament Saturday and Sunday at the North Ski Area. The three-event competition included skiers of all ages (8-73) and all levels (grassroots, kids, and college students through seniors).

“We are proud to say that this tournament had one of the largest turnouts in the numbers of ski rides pulled in many years,” Canyon Lake Ski Club President Scott Larson said. “It also included a diverse group of water skiers.”

“Personal Best” scores in a sanctioned event were recorded by Taylor Horton with 6,080 points in Trick, Thad Epting with 1.5 buoys @38 off Slalom, Emi Horton with 1.5 buoys @38 off Slalom, Surrey Swindler with 500 points in Trick, Jackson Bakon with 55 feet in Jump and 740 points in Trick, Demitri Foye with 3 buoys @32 off Slalom and 560 points in Trick, Alex Pearce with 2 buoys @15 off Slalom, Rio Case with 460 points in Trick, and Daniel Pryor with 2 buoys @28 off in Slalom and 860 points in Trick.

Skier scores are applied to the national rankings list and qualify skiers for both the 2024 Water Ski Regionals and the U.S. Water Ski Nationals, both of which will be held in Southern California next year.
