Lynn Gast’s 1971 Ford Torino named Car of Month

Lynn Gast took her 1971 Ford Torino GT Convertible to the Canyon Lake Car Club’s monthly Cars, Coffee and Donuts gathering at Sierra Park Saturday and came away with Car of the Month honors.

Lynn’s Ford Torino was a college graduation present to herself. The car was specially ordered June 19, 1970 and was manufactured on Oct. 16, 1970 which happened to be Lynn’s birthday. The car is all original other than a recent paint job.

Ford only manufactured 1,613 1971 Torino convertibles. The Torino has a 351 Cleveland engine.

“I keep this convertible so that my children and grandchildren can have the convertible experience I had had growing up,” Lynn said.

The Canyon Lake Car Club has its Cars, Coffee and Donuts every second Saturday of the month at Sierra Park from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.

The club’s big event of the year is next month. The Canyon Lake Car Show will take place on Oct. 7 at the Canyon Lake Lodge.
