CLAMS makes money to give money away

CLAMS, Canyon Lake Association of Men, handed Bob Sasser, founding member of Helping Hands, a check in the amount of $1,000 last week.

“Helping Hands serves from Temecula out to Perris and currently we are serving 2,500 low-income seniors, Bob said. “Most are disabled and struggling month to month. They experience something that the government calls food insecurity. It’s a shame that the government has to make a term for it, but it’s when a senior has to decide if they are going to eat or have their power shut off. Food insecurity is going rampant in our communities here.”

The focus of the CLAMS is to help its community of Canyon Lake, but also wants to help the surrounding areas such as Lake Elsinore, Sun City, Menifee.

“We have members from outside our community as well,” Mark Inkrote, vice president of Helping Hands, said. “We need more members. Members are what allow us to do the things we do for Bob with Helping Hands. Our focus is to help those in need or who could use a Helping Hand.”

“Our catch phrase is, ‘we make money to give it away’,” Steven Prince of CLAMS said.
