Club holds Luau on the Links

The Canyon Lake Women’s Golf Club held its annual Couples Eclectic Golf Tournament, “Luau on the Links,” for two days over two weeks with two couples winning the overall championship. Overall Net winners were Donna Nunes and Barry Talbot and Overall Gross winners were KK Beecher and Jesse Beecher.

Despite the heat over the two days of the tournament, 18 couples participated. There were three flights of six teams each. The winners of each flight were:

A Flight – Gross, Gerry Meeks and Andrew Quinn, 1st Net, Maxine Whalen and Bruce Wallace and 2nd Net, Norma and Bruce Yarbrough.

B Flight – Gross, Barbara and Larry Mensch, 1st Net, Claudia and Mike Pinto and 2nd Net, Darlene Cortez and Chris Poland.

C Flight – Gross, Ura and Chuck Furry, 1st Net, Wagoner and 2nd Net, Linda Johnson and Eric Schrader.

The club said it would like to thank the tournament co-chairs Ura Furry, Darlene Cortez and Victoria Woods. It would also like to thank Darlene Cortez who made homemade decorated cookies, Victoria Wood who decorated the tables with the Luau Theme and Paul de la Vega of the Canyon Lake Country Club and his staff for the great lunch. A special thanks, the club said, goes to Pro Pat Kemball and his staff for handling the cards, the scoring, flights and summary.
