CL youth put on Little Mermaid at Indian Beach

Youths took the Indian Beach Amphitheater Stage Friday and Saturday and the Canyon Lake Community Theater group and put on a magnificent production of “The Little Mermaid Jr.” Audience members took their seats and were treated to what one of the directors described as a magical performance.

Throughout the production, the theater group board members collaborated with talented young performers and their parents and accomplished a monumental task which was truly inspiring on multiple levels.

Under the direction of Stephanie Vecchione, a strong and respectful team was formed, bonded by their shared passion for the arts. Working as a cohesive family, they sang, danced, and forged new friendships.

“Being back at Indian Beach was truly magical,” Ilene Moore, one of the directors, said. Illene has been involved in numerous children‘s productions in the past.

The night was like none other. Indian Beach was magically transformed into a live theater venue where the music and characters came to life with the help of a wonderful sound system and lighting, all under the beautiful skyline of Canyon Lake.

“Little kids productions are generally not my jam, but this play slayed,” Beth Parsley said. “CLCT can really put together a grand slam no matter the age.”

Canyon Lake Community Theater productions like The Little Mermaid are dependent on its sponsors and donors. The club is having a fundraiser on Sept. 15 and needs community donations. The donations that the club is looking for are gently used clothing, backpacks, handbags, shoes, towels, sheets, blankets, bedspreads, and more.

There is a drop off at 23263 Clipper Court. Contact Nicole Garvito at Nicolegarvito@gmail.com for more information or to coordinate dropping off the gently used donations.

“Little Mermaid would not have been possible without the invaluable contributions of Carrie Pratt at the POA,” Stephanie said. “We’re also grateful to our dedicated security officers and maintenance staff.”
