CLAMS raises $1000s at annual golf tourney

The CLAMS Charity Fundraiser Golf Tournament held at the Canyon Lake Country Club on Saturday raised thousands of dollars for various charitable causes and proved to be a resounding triumph, Club Vice President Mark Inkrote said.

Canyon Lake Golf Course Golf Pro Pat Kimbell said the tournament was the largest golf tournament in Canyon Lake in recent history. A total of 144 golfers played in the tournament and, with tournament title sponsor Airstream of Inland Empire and other sponsors, helped raise the thousands in funds for the club’s charities.

The event distributed over $1,000 in prize money, including awards of $50 each for two golfers who sank their putts in the kickoff customary CLAMS Circle Putt.

Adding a touch of distinction to the tournament were the attendance of honored guests, including retired NFL player Willie Buchanan, retired Red Sox pitcher Greg Harris, and four-time Olympic high jumper Dwight Stones.

The champions of the tournament, Rob Lewis, Zach Lewis, Matt McDevitt, and Steve Circle, claimed victory with an impressive net score of 54.

“We want to thank all our sponsors for their generous donations,” Mark said.

“We are grateful for our member volunteers, and our lady volunteers, who all helped to make this year‘s tournament a success.”
