Seniors play golf tournament in farm attire

The Canyon Lake Women’s Golf Club Senior Championship Golf Tournament with the theme of “Down on the Farm” was held the last two Tuesdays of June with Mary Burns and Ura Furry taking the titles.

The tournament was hosted by the Canyon Lake Women’s Golf Club Past Presidents and had 27 players participating and wearing their favorite farm attire. After the tournament, a Down on the Farm luncheon was served as awards were handed out at the Country Club. Homemade ice cream made by Maxine Whalen was served for dessert.

The Low Gross Winner over the field was Mary Burns. Winners of the Low Gross Division were: A Flight, Dena Kuhns; B Flight, Norma Yarbrough; and C Flight, Maxine Whalen.

The Low Net Winner over the field was Ura Furry. Winners of the Low Net Division were: A Flight, 1st Lorrie Applegate, 2nd Lori Campbell; B Flight, 1st Donna Nunes, 2nd Judy Thompson, and C Flight, 1st Rita Crocker, 2nd Carrie Collins.

Champions Mary and Ura received flowers, script, and their names on trophies that are in the trophy case at the Canyon Lake Country Club.

Within the Senior Tournament, a Super Senior Tournament for those age 75 plus was held. Out of 27 members who played, 12 women qualified for the Net Super Senior Event. The winner was Ura Furry and 2nd place was Rita Crocker.
