Canyon Lake parties all weekend long

Fiesta Hopper was a big giant fiesta throughout Canyon Lake over the holiday weekend. As the sun went down Friday night, the party began and didn’t end until after sunset Monday.

Canyon Lake residents and their guests experienced the iconic Park Hopper like no other. This year‘s event took place at five different locations with free shuttle buses transporting eager party goers from Gault Field to Blue Bird Hall with stops at each of the parks. The shuttles made the park hopping even more convenient

Friday night started the eventful weekend with a movie night at the Lodge Pool. Movie nights around the community have been a big hit in Canyon Lake and kicking off Park Hopper in the pool watching a movie was a great family fun activity to get the weekend underway.

The popular Fiesta Hopper Parade got Saturday off with a bang. The theme of Fiesta Hopper was “Lake Life.” Clubs, residents, city staff, Canyon Lake POA, fire and police departments along with Canyon Lake businesses dressed their cars, carts and boats with their lake life themes.

The streets were filled with people waving and cheering as the parade drove through the parade route. Candy, beach balls and flags were seen being thrown from the parade participants. Kids cheered as the candy was tossed their way.

The equestrian center had members riding their horses in true parade fashion, wooing the crowd. Mermaids, clowns and classic cars paraded the streets. The Canyon Lake parade was filled with the spirit of patriotism. Many decked out their cars, carts and outfits to show the meaning behind the Memorial Day parade and paid tribute to those who lost their lives for the country’s freedom.

The biggest day of the weekend had a solid stream of events after the parade at each of the five parks.

The Canyon Lake Lodge, sponsored by the Mermaids of Canyon Lake, had live music by the band Still Kick’n on the brand-new outdoor stage which residents enjoyed for the first time. The new stage is a wide open space with a rustic touch. The music was fun and upbeat and included songs the crowd could sing to while enjoying a drink or food at one of the many vendors or Lighthouse Restaurant. Games were available for play in the Lodge lawn area with inflatable ax throwing and basketball shooting. A Fiesta Hopper ski show was a highlight off of Sunset Beach on the lake.

Holiday Harbor was sponsored by the Canyon Lake Woman‘s Club. The band Black Rock Candy played on the bandstand with the lake providing a beautiful background. Boats cruised up and joined the festivities, stopping to listen to the music. This band full of young performers entertained the crowd throughout the day. Other fun activities included a waterslide, tubs carnival ride, with vendor booths providing shopping and food.

Indian Beach was sponsored by the Canyon Lake Family Matters Club and the Canyon Lake Women‘s Golf Club. Activities included a D.J., reptile show, face painting, water slide and rock wall. There were food vendors and booths for shopping.

Sierra Park was sponsored by the Canyon Lake Car Club. A classic car show that attracted lots of spectators was the highlight at the park. Many Canyon Lake residents enjoyed showing their cars and trucks to the crowd. Activities included a cornhole contest, a caricature artist along with great food and vendor booths.

Many local businesses participated by purchasing vendor booths throughout the different locations to support the Fiesta Hopper and promote their businesses. Helping Hands was at the event collecting “Jars of Love.” The jars of peanut butter were being collected for Helping Hands to give to those in need.

Eastport Park was sponsored by the Canyon Lake Pickleball Club. In addition to the pickleball club’s free pickleball lessons, the park sported a D.J., spider wall, water slide, petting zoo and vendor and food booths. The petting zoo was the big hit for the kids.

Each park offered great activities and food for Canyon Lakers to choose from.

Sunday‘s activities, although not at all the parks, were just as entertaining and exciting. The Lodge had pool paddle boats in the community pool where kids splashed around on their boats while smiling from ear to ear.

Holiday Harbor was sponsored by the Canyon Lake Veteran’s and First Responders Club. The band, Buckle Up & Lynyrd Skynyrd Reloaded, had the audience on both sides of the stage entertained. The amphitheater was filled with fans while those on the lake side of the stage watched from their boats. The band had back up singers adding to a full sound and were very well received by the crowd. Activities included food vendors, booths with items to sell and businesses to learn about. The spider wall and water slide were a big hit on what started to be a cool day, but warmed up and turned into a beautiful Memorial Day weekend.
