Public invited to view water ski tourney this weekend

World-class water skiers will be competing in Canyon Lake tomorrow and Sunday at the first Western Region sanctioned water ski tournament of the 2023 season.

The event will take place over the weekend in the North Ski Area and Jump Lagoon.

The May Open is a three-event water ski tournament and will include slalom, trick, and jump. The competition begins at 7:30 a.m. each day.

“We have roughly 30 competitors attending this weekend, ranging from current collegiate skiers, recent college graduates and our veteran skiers,” Rick Jacobs, Canyon Lake Ski Club Tournament Director, said.

“With all of the rain, it has been a slow start to spring, but we are all excited for the fun water ski season ahead. Feel free to stop by and say hi and show your support for the Canyon Lake Water Ski Club.”
