Canyon Lake Chamber holds Meet the Candidates Forum at Lodge

Canyon Lake residents were given insight into each of the candidates for the Canyon Lake Property Owners Association Board of Directors at a Meet the Candidates Forum on March 30 in the Holiday Bay Room of the Canyon Lake Lodge.

The forum was hosted by the Canyon Lake Chamber of Commerce with City of Canyon Lake Mayor Jeremy Smith as the moderator and Chamber Vice President Megan Contramen as the timekeeper.

Three of the five seats on the Canyon Lake POA Board of Directors are up for election in May. The two-year terms of Renee Griffiths, Tim Cook, and Alex Cook are ending.

There are six candidates running for the three openings. They are Jeanne O‘Dell, Chris Papavero, Renee Griffiths, Jeff Bill, Alex Cook and Joe Kamashian. Rita Bendlin withdrew her candidacy.

“I  was honored to be asked to moderate the Meet the Candidates Forum,” Jeremy said. “We are so blessed to live in a community with so much involvement. We had well over 100 in attendance and it was an incredible evening full of important conversations about the direction of our community. All six candidates did an incredible job and we are thankful for their willingness to step up and serve.”

The audience was filled with homeowners who were encouraged to write questions and concerns for the candidates to answer. A video of the event is available on the Canyon Lake Property Owners Website www.canyonlakepoa.com/election.

The next scheduled in-person meeting for the candidates will be held on April 15 at 9:30 a.m. The Senior Work Group will be sponsoring the event at the Senior Center. The Senior Center event will be a live forum only and will not be recorded.

Each candidate‘s bio is also on the Canyon Lake POA website.
