Group joins Canyon Cowboy for fallen deputy’s family fundraiser

The Canyon Lake Veterans and First Responders Group along with the Canyon Cowboy Restaurant came together Tuesday to raise money for fallen Deputy Brian Haney‘s family.

Brian died in a single-car accident on Railroad Canyon Road on his way home from being on duty at the Orange County Sheriff’s Department. He left behind his wife Leslee and newborn baby Cole. The two were at the fundraising event. Brian was a veteran who served as a Senior Airman in the United States Air Force.

“We’ve received amazing response and support from the community,” the club’s Staci Wright said. “Everyone has been so kind and generous with donations. What went from a donation of diapers has turned into something even more amazing than we expected.”

The fundraiser included opportunity drawings and silent auctions. Also a portion of the night’s food sales at the Canyon Cowboy were donated to the family.

“The community is doing what it does best,” Staci said. “They’re taking care of others and coming together to show their support.”
