Look at the Canyon Lake beauty around us

I remember like it was yesterday when I first moved to the lake. I felt this sense of belonging right when I moved in. I felt as though I had been called to the community, like the lake had been whispering my name.

From the gorgeous night skies, when light pollution was even less than today, to the calmness of the mornings. Driving by the causeway taking my son to school and looking over to the smooth glass sunlit lake. I find myself missing those drives together now that he drives himself.

Driving into the lake from the back gate, I would admire the beauty on the drive home from picking up my son from school. I would get a tingling feeling and a smile would just light up my face as I would look around all the beauty that surrounded us. I still get that same feeling today. I love the look of the lake whether it’s morning, afternoon or evening. Each time brings a different beauty. Each season brings a different sense of what is to come.

I am not sure which season I like the best here. Each season brings yet another sense of excitement. With spring coming, I am enjoying watching my trees already bloom, the poppies that are coming up on the hills around us, and the amazing sunrises. We have incredible sunrises and sunsets. I need to spend more time enjoying them.

I have felt a little nudge from the big guy to stop and enjoy all that is around me lately. I am looking forward to it getting a little warmer and to sit on the porch and enjoy my coffee and wave at the neighbors. I have the best neighbors.

I need to do more of that. Don’t you? More of just enjoying the beauty that surrounds us.

“Mom, it‘s like we are on vacation every day here,” my son Shaun would say.

Yes, it is. Yes, it is. Let’s not forget that. Let’s live in the spirit of the beauty all around us. That’s my challenge this week. What is yours?
