CL Middle School Cheer repeats as State Champs

Canyon Lake Middle School Competition Cheer competed in the CHEERPROS California State Championship and brought home the State title and a Grand Champion title. The title was the team’s fifth consecutive state title.

The event was held at the Pasadena Convention Center where the team won the junior high show cheer division and then earned Grand Champion by having the highest scoring routine out of middle school and high school freshman teams. The girls received champion sweaters, t-shirts, medals and banners to hang in the school gym.

Canyon Lake Middle School Competition Cheer Team performs at the California State Championships where it not only won the championship, but took the Grand Champion Award, which is the top prize out of all junior high schools and high school freshmen teams.

Canyon Lake Middle School Coach Kendall Howard was recognized at the competition as a finalist for Coach of the Year and Coach Tammy Howard was recognized as a finalist for Advisor of the Year.

CLMS Cheer Competition Team members from Canyon Lake are Bria Hofmann, River Cassara, Kyla Easterly, Jennah Jaffe, Chloe Ortiz, Railey Berry, Reese Marcuse, Courtney Medina, Mikaela Kivrizis, Summer Bristow and Kyleigh Peter.

Additional team members are Emma Fisher, Kailey Martinez, Kali Stoltz, Maliyah Myers, Julia Flynn, Tori Busell, Emily Hernandez, Jayla Douglas, Audrina Mercado, Natalie Gonzales and Sophia Lares.

“February will have us working extra hard since we have the LEUSD Nationals Showcase coming up on Monday and then our big competition in Anaheim at the USA Junior Nationals on Feb. 25 and 26.
