Pickleball Club to hold junior clinic in CL tomorrow

The Canyon Lake Pickleball Club will hold a junior clinic tomorrow (Saturday) from noon to 4:00 p.m. at the Pickleball Courts and is open to children ages 9 to 17 who live in Canyon Lake.

The clinic will provide lessons, games and challenges and a round-robin style tournament with opportunities to win gift cards. Raffle drawing for prizes and plenty of snacks will be provided by the club.

“This is something we really want to do for our children,” Steve Libring, club secretary, said. “We want to get them involved with a family sport at an early age. We’re hoping to continue to get even more juniors involved and grow this age group in our club. We want to have many more tournaments and clinics to establish a well-rounded juniors program.”

Those who show up on the day of the event will be limited to the first 24 juniors and priority is given to those who pre-registered. The cost of the event is $5.00.

Parents that want to reserve a spot for the event should email Steve at steve.libring@gmail.com. Parents who sign up in advance will be entered into a special drawing for a gift prize.

The Canyon Lake Pickleball Club is open to all community members and dues are $30 per adult for a three-year membership. Children are free with a paid adult until the age of 18 and are welcome to participate in events, potlucks, BBQs, swim parties, and other club activities and events.

Community members who haven’t played pickleball and want a free introductory lesson on skills, rules, game play, practice, etc. can contact Steve to set that up.

“We want everyone to at least consider trying pickleball once and see how much fun it is,” Steve said. “It’s a great outdoor activity for all ages, 8 to 88 and loads of fun for the entire family.”
