Letter: Yacht Club grateful

Editor, The Friday Flyer:

The Canyon Lake Yacht Club is grateful for the contributions of so many individuals and organizations for their invaluable assistance in producing the 40th year of the Canyon Lake Parade of Lights on Saturday.

Thanks to the generosity of our amazing sponsors, this year’s parade was one of the best ever.

Great thanks to our Admiral sponsors – Arbor Hospice, Dawna Thibodeau of Harcourts Prime Properties, Frozen in Time Cryotherapy & Wellness Spa, Last Chance Performance Marine, MD Engineering, SolarMax Technology, Sports Stop Pub & Grill and Viele & Sons Foodservice Distributors. These organizations earned the title as the “official” companies of the 2022 Parade of Lights in their respective categories.

Thanks go to our Commodore sponsors – Eastport Market and Touchless Boat Cover of Southern California, for their support and generosity.

Thanks also go to our Captain sponsors and other donors – A’s Pizza, Canyon Lake Car Club, Canyon Lake Market, Canyon Lake POA, Don’s Ceilings & Walls, DSP Electrical Contractors, Little G Charters, Power Pros Pest Control, Sam’s Roofing, and Smart Recycling.

In addition, no parade happens without the tireless work of volunteers and club members.

Dave Dain, club Vice Commodore and Chairman of the Parade of Lights, worked diligently to bring all the elements together, orchestrating the event and coaching boat owners.

Rob Mora and Brian Oltman worked alongside other members of the Yacht Club to help organize the parade and after party. Special thanks to Rob Mora and Lainie Cooney for also hosting planning and coaching events at their beautiful home.

Art and Jill Femister again graciously offered their spacious waterfront home for the judging station and unofficial party headquarters.

Pete Delia, owner and commander of the iconic Green Dragon, has served the community tirelessly for several decades, assisted by a crew of volunteers that assembles and disassembles the Green Dragon every year.

Marine Patrol captain Don Motteler helped with planning to ensure a fun and safe parade. Happy Camp host Sean Gardner helped the club to set up the After Party at Happy Camp. Mike Morgan was a tireless promoter and sponsor solicitor, helping the club gain valuable funds for the parade and the club’s other philanthropic efforts.

Thanks to Chuck Golding and Dawn Rankins of The Friday Flyer for providing valuable information to the Canyon Lake community about the parade and with ideas and help for parade participants.

And finally, a great Yacht Club salute to all the boat owners who decorated their boats with festive lights and displays giving thousands of Canyon Lake families and their guests a great holiday treat. Without you and your wonderful boat displays it would have just been another night on Canyon Lake.

— Ron Wilbur,
Canyon Lake Yacht Club
