Mark Terry picked to fill Council seat

From a slate of four candidates interviewed in public session at the end of Wednesday’s City of Canyon Lake City Council Meeting, council members voted 4-1 for Mark Terry to fill the vacancy left by resigning Larry Greene.

Each of the four who had applied to be considered for the vacancy gave opening statements and answered interview questions from the entire city council, including Larry, whose resignation took effect once Mark was chosen.

Mark, Kelly Bastman, Josh Steeber and Danielle Coats were recommended to be interviewed by an ad-hoc committee tasked with screening the candidates. They were the only four who submitted applications.

Mark’s successful majority vote came after the council had first voted 2-3 on a motion for Kelly to fill the spot and after a motion failed to get seconded on Josh. Larry was the lone dissenting vote on Mark’s successful nomination to join the council.

Mark will fulfil the remainder of Larry’s term, which will conclude in December 2024.

Larry resigned from the city council because of a pending move next month to Montana.a
