City Council to fill empty seat Wed.

With the vacancy created by the resignation of City of Canyon Lake Mayor Pro Tem Larry Greene, the city has received multiple applicants to take his place. The current City Council will meet at its regular monthly meeting on Wednesday and on the agenda will be choosing a replacement for Larry.

As of Wednesday, six applications had been taken out and two had been turned back in, with a third setting an appointment to turn in another, according to City Clerk Ana Sauceda. The deadline to submit these applications to be considered to fill the empty seat was yesterday at 5:00 p.m.

An ad-hoc committee of the city council will review all applications and invite the most qualified applicants to interview before the City Council at the Wednesday City Council Meeting. The selected candidate will be sworn-in as a member of the city council immediately following the appointment that night and Larry’s resignation will become effective.

Larry announced at the September city council meeting that he would be moving on Nov. 1 to Montana and would, consequently, need to resign from the city council.

City Manager Chris Mann said the city is planning on a formal farewell for Larry at the city council meeting Wednesday.
