In Memoriam: Dale Kenneth Smith

Canyon Lake resident Dale Kenneth Smith passed away peacefully on July 9, 2022 at age 71. His beloved wife, Maureen Smith, lost her battle to ovarian cancer this past December, just over six months prior to Dale’s passing.

Dale Kenneth Smith

Dale was born on a 20-acre farm in Fort Belvoir, Virginia on May 5, 1951. He was the oldest of four children. His father served in the Army, and the family relocated often during Dale’s younger years. They lived in Hanau, Germany, Tacoma, WA, and eventually settled in Santa Ana, CA.

As a young adult, Dale had a passion for go karts and model airplanes and found ways to build his own by using motors from his father’s lawn equipment. Dale graduated from Santa Ana High School, Class of 1969.

After high school, Dale moved to Utah and earned his Master’s Degree in Pharmacy from the University of Utah in 1976.

While in Utah, he found a new hobby, cross country snow skiing. He eventually moved back down to California, where he took up boating and waterskiing.

After practicing Pharmacy for several years, he transitioned into the telecommunications industry. Dale had an interest in science and computers, and would build his own computers on his leisure.

Dale met Maureen in 1988, and they eventually married and made the move down to Canyon Lake in 1993 to raise their three young children. He became a member of the Canyon Lake Ski Club and lived happily in Canyon Lake for 29 years.

He pursued many hobbies, including music, guitar, watersports, aviation, auto mechanics, science, chemistry and mathematics. He was kind hearted with a lively spirit and had a wealth of knowledge. He was a true “fix anything” kind of guy.

Dale will be greatly missed, and he lives on through his children Joshua, Clifford and Paula, and grandchildren Ryker, James and Maverick.

Please join us in celebrating the life of Dale Smith. Funeral services will be held at St. Vincent Ferrer Church in Menifee, on Sept. 26 at 10:00 a.m.
