The mass of humanity peddling and paddling on the lake Saturday were participants of The Canyon Lake Triathlon and Fitness Club’s annual Paddle and Pedal Regatta at Indian Beach. Many Canyon Lakers came out to paddle, pedal and row while others soaked up the sun and cheered on those in the regatta.
“The event was a great way to get in some exercise during the paddle to East Port all while helping a worthy cause,” the club’s Karin Cassidy said.
There were $360 in proceeds that came from both a raffle and donations that were given to the Canyon Lake Community Theatre Group to help rebuild after remaining dark during the pandemic.
Following the group paddle to East Port and back, adults and kids paddleboard races were held. Mark Yegsigian won first place in the adult division while riding his Hobie Pedal Board.
Zaylee Wheelock took first place for the kids, followed by William Paul, Summer Paul and Mikayla Kivrizis.
Karin said the club would like to give a special thanks to Tracey Vartanian for gathering donations from local businesses Canyon Lake Gunsmithing, Just for Paws Pet Grooming, Ladywolfe Fitness, National Dent Auto Recon, Century 21 Full Realty Services, The CBD Store, Drivers Choice Insurance, June and Co. Candles, Advance Auto Care, Sugar Dollz, Impact Promotional Products, Shear Bliss, Mark Yegsigian and the Cooney-Mora Family.
The club would also like to thank volunteers The Kivrizis, Cassidys, Burns, Gillilands, Heglunds, Yegsigians and Yanoshicks.
