Community invited to tomorrow’s Regatta

Canyon Lakers looking to get wet tomorrow are invited to the Canyon Lake Triathlon and Fitness Club’s Annual Paddle and Pedal Regatta at Indian Beach.

The Saturday morning event begins at 10:00 a.m. where those with paddleboards, kayaks, pedal boats, canoes and other non-motorized vessels will paddle out into the lake for a 10:30 a.m. group photo.

Immediately after the photo, the group will paddle from Indian Beach to Eastport and back. Joining those on boards and boats will be a few of the club’s Ironmen in training who will swim the one-mile course.

Following the roundtrip paddle, there will be paddleboard races for adults and kids with winners receiving medals.

Raffle tickets will be sold throughout the event for prizes donated by local businesses. Tickets will be $1.00 each or 10 tickets for $5.00. The proceeds from the raffle will go to the Canyon Lake Community Theatre Group, which was hard hit by the pandemic and are struggling to stay afloat.

The Canyon Lake Triathlon and Fitness Club said it would like to thank the event’s volunteers, Mark Yegsigian, Matt Kivrizis, Maria Kivrizis, Laura Heglund, Mindie Gilliland, Collin Gilliland, Jim Yanooshik, Bob Burns, and Tracey Vartanian.

The club said it would also like to thank the businesses and individuals who donated raffle items: Canyon Lake Gunsmithing, Just for Paws Pet Grooming, Ladywolfe Fitness, National Dent Auto Recon, Century 21 Full Realty Services, The CBD Store, Drivers Choice Insurance, June & Co. Candles, Advance Auto Care, Sugar Dollz, Lainie Cooney and Robert Mora, Body Sculpting Spa and Impact Promotional Products.
