CL Woman’s Club to hold Cornbread and Chili Cook-Off

The Canyon Lake Woman’s Club Hot Autumn Nights Chili and Cornbread Cook-Off will bring sizzle to the community on Sept. 10. Club members and their friends are being invited to participate in the cookoff and to also come for the tasting of the entries.

Members and their guests are invited to the cook-off at the Canyon Lake Senior Center at 5:00 p.m. For the entry fee of $15.00 each, those attending can enjoy an evening of sampling contestants’ chili, a taste or two of some homemade cornbread and a drink.

There will also be raffle tickets sold and an opportunity to purchase old-fashioned goodies from select vendors all while music is played.

Club members and their guests can also enter the cook-off with their chili and/or cornbread. Categories for chili are: Most Like Mom’s, Where’s the Beef? (other meats or vegetables), Fire in the Hole!!!! (spiciest), and People’s Choice. There are two cornbread categories: Sweet and Savory.

To enter, contact Dawn Rankins at 951-447-1274 for more details and information.

Those in attendance will also be the judges. A voting card is included in the admission fee and when all of the cards are turned in, the winners will be named for both the chili and cornbread categories.

The $15.00 cost includes all the tastings, a voting card and one drink ticket. The cook-off event is private and is for members and their guests only. For tickets, call Woman’s Club President Shawna Bowen at 714-394-4885.

Vendor space is available. Those who are interested in becoming a vendor of “good ol’ hometown items,” should contact the Woman’s Club at www.canyonlakewomansclub.com.
