Tennis Club dresses, eats for Wimbledon

The Canyon Lake Tennis Club held its annual Wimbledon-themed tournament last week and the white-clad players competed before enjoying a crumpets and tea club social.

“The social was a great event!” the club’s Nancy Contreras said. “It was a beautiful day to play tennis.”

The event took place at the Canyon Lake Tennis Courts by the Lodge. The men and women players with the high scores were Wes Clay and Dawn Wessel.

Team Manchester won the team event, which was decided after a playoff against Team London. The Manchester team was comprised of Greg Shapiro, Anthony Hardin, Wes Clay, Kathie Clay, Nancy Contreras, and Becky Gagnon.

The winning Team received a gift card to In & Out Burger and ProPenn tennis balls.

Twenty-four players participated in the tournament.
