Shrek performers eager to dazzle audiences next month

With a cast that ranges in ages from three to 75, Shrek the Musical will be hitting the stage beginning Aug. 5 for three days.

The Canyon Lake Community Theatre troupe will be staging the performances, its first major production since COVID-19 shut it down nearly three years ago, at Elsinore High School.

Tickets for Shrek the Musical can be purchased online at www.clctheatre.com. There will be four shows over the three days of the performances.

The first show will take the stage on Aug. 5 at 7:00 p.m., followed by two shows on Aug. 6 at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. before closing out on Aug. 7 at 2:00 p.m.

“We have big green ogres and a bunch of nutty fairy-tale creatures of all ages, shapes and sizes,” Nicole Garvito said. “Come see your favorites like Pinocchio, the Big Bad Wolf, the Three Little Pigs and Three Blind Mice and so much more.”

Due to the size constraints at the Canyon Lake Lodge, Nicole said the group was fortunate enough to obtain a large enough stage at Elsinore High.

“I’m so glad the community theatre is continuing to move forward with productions,” Bobby Swan, one of the cast members, said. “It’s been a long few years without activity.”

The Theatre Group is always looking for more actors and actresses, young and old(er), so Nicole is asking Canyon Lakers to not hesitate to reach out to the Theatre Group to participate in future productions.
