Canyon Lake volunteers pull debris from lake, shore

After a morning filled with searching for trash in the lake, members of the Canyon Lake Yacht Club collect what the groups found and prep it for disposal. The club reported having a difficult time finding much trash in the lake as compared to previous years. Photo provided by Renee Griffiths.

Volunteers joined up with the Canyon Lake Yacht Club Saturday, boarded boats and went searching for debris in the lake and on its shores. The annual clean up event ended up not having a whole lot for the volunteers to do.

“Many hats and shoes were found in the lake, but the lake was certainly much cleaner than in previous years,” Renee Griffiths of the Yacht Club said. “Way to go Canyon Lakers for keeping it pretty clean.”

The group of volunteers met at Diamond Point Park about 8:00 a.m and set out on foot and boat to get the lake cleaned up. The debris they collected was gathered and bagged. The Canyon Lake POA provided the bags and nets.
