In Memoriam: Salvatore Alfonso Critelli

Salvatore Alfonso Critelli, (known as “Sammy”), 57, was born in Inglewood, Calif. He passed away in Mesa, Arizona on May 11, 2022 at 12:20 p.m. Sammy grew up in Cypress, Calif, where he attended Cypress Elementary, Oxford Jr. High School and Cypress High School.

Sammy’s parents, Salvatore “Sam” Critelli and Carmen Critelli, deceased, moved to Canyon Lake in 1986. Sammy lived with them in Canyon Lake on and off until 2003. While at the lake, he loved to fish, boat, ski and golf.

Sammy started his trade working as a flooring installer in his early years. He later moved to Lake Tahoe and worked at a ski resort in the winter, and installed flooring. He moved to Laughlin, Nev. after his father passed away in 2003.

He and his wife lived in Golden Valley, Ariz., where they had horses and many dogs. While in Arizona, he continued to enjoy fishing and water sports.

Sammy owned his own flooring installation company, SC Floor Coverings.

At the beginning of the pandemic in February 2020, Sammy broke his leg in two places. He was in Mesa, Ariz. for therapy when he succumbed to sepsis.

He is survived by his wife, Jennifer Lynn Betow Critelli, his sister, Nancy Critelli, his brother-in-law, Jon Stephenson, his aunt, Dorothy Critelli-Zoval, his uncle, Gene Zoval, his uncle, Frank Begg and cousins, Jim Zoval, Frank Begg, Steve Zoval and Theresa Brown.

He was loyal, loving and generous to everybody including his family and friends. He will be dearly missed.
