Juniors are invited to come out and play pickleball

The Canyon Lake Pickleball Club is holding its summer junior clinic and tournament June 25 and the event is open to all Canyon Lake children ages 9-17. The club will provide lessons, games and challenges, a round robin style tournament with opportunities to win gift cards, raffle drawing for prizes, and plenty of snacks.

“This is something we really want to do for our children here in the lake,” Steve Libring, club secretary, said. “Getting them involved with a family sport at an early age is a goal of the club. We‘re hoping to continue to get even more juniors involved and grow that age group in our club so we can have many more tournaments and clinics and establish a well-rounded junior program.”

Parents who want to reserve a spot for the event can email Steve at steve.libring@gmail.com prior to June 24. Those parents who sign up in advance will be entered into a special drawing for a gift prize. Others can come to the Pickleball Courts and sign up the day of the event, if they choose to do so, however, the event will be limited to the first 20 juniors. Priority will be given to those who pre-register.

The cost for the entire evening is $5.00. It will take place from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

The Canyon Lake Pickleball Club is open to any community member and the dues are $30.00 per adult for a three-year membership. Children of parents who are members are free until the age of 18 and can participate in the club’s events including potlucks, BBQs, swim parties, and other activities. For more information or to have questions about the club or the clinic answered, contact Steve at steve.libring@gmail.com.

“We want everyone to consider at least trying Pickleball once and see how much fun it is,” Steve said. “We want everyone to see how much fun it is. It’s a great outdoor activity for all ages and loads of fun for the entire family.”
